The Bowen Technique is considered safe; in fact it is so gentle some clients fall asleep during a treatment. It is ideal for people of all ages from newborn to the elderly and is effective during and after pregnancy.
How long does a treatment last?
Each treatment is tailor-made to suit the individual. Most treatments will last between 20 and 50 minutes. With Bowen “less is more”
How many treatments will I need?
Everybody is different; some people will only need one treatment. Three treatments are more common but chronic conditions may require ongoing long-term sessions. Some conditions may need top up treatments spaced at different intervals of between one and three months.
Optimal treatment would be three treatments spaced between five and ten days apart.
What will I feel during a treatment?
No two people feel the same thing. Some people say they feel like the therapist is still touching them even though they have left the room. Some people report feeling heat, tingling, numbness or energy flow. Often the breathing becomes deeper and effortless or there may be a change in the emotions. Deep relaxation and a sense of letting go are often experienced. Others may feel no physical sensations.
Why does the therapist leave the room?
The therapist leaves the room to allow the body time to respond and integrate the information from the Bowen move. Being alone allows you to listen to your body, whilst not feeling watched and feeling you have to maintain a conversation.
